Birthing Information

You have many choices in how you give birth. It will not be obvious which is best for you until you are actually in labour. Following are some examples of what many women instinctually use. It is important to learn about all options.

Waterbirth

Water has a powerful attraction for all human beings in a variety of different ways. Many women feel attracted to water in labour and find that immersion in a deep pool of water causes relaxation and surrender to the sensation of strong contractions.

Active Birth

Simply a description of normal labour and birth and the way a woman behaves when she is following her own instincts. It is a way of saying she is in control of her body while giving birth, rather than the passive recipient of an ‘actively managed’ birth on the part of her caregivers.

HypnoBirthing®

Maybe an unfortunate title – you will not be hypnotised! HypnoBirthing® will teach you techniques for relaxation and visualisation and is helping women reclaim their right to call upon their natural birthing instincts.

calmbirth®

Birth is a natural process which should be experienced fearlessly, calmly and ecstatically. calmbirth® teaches the skills to accomplish such an experience.

Alternative Therapies

There are many ‘alternative’ therapies available. At Birth Right we have therapists who understand and specialise in pregnancy, post-natal care, babies and children.

Birth Right - The Book

This is not a book about ‘how to have a baby’. This is a book about the importance of shopping around for caregivers, place of birth, doulas, education, what questions to ask and what answers you should be getting.
